My Biggest Inspiration

My Biggest Inspiration

I am an artist by passion and by love. I don’t know who I would be without creating, if I’m perfectly honest. The Arts have been such a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. From scholastic book orders, to art kits gifted, to drawn notes in college. I create because that’s who I am.

However, when it comes to the actual nitty gritty of practicing with intent, and creating my art businesses there is an inspiration that trumps even that soul deep desire to create, and that is my daughter.

Before becoming a mom, I had many inspirations, that were as ever changing as the tide. Love of creating, love of learning, nature, books, shows. Things that were fun to draw and brought me lots of joy, but was not something upon which you could build a foundation upon.

Then I had my daughter, and that all changed in the best way. I had heard people talking about how having kids they become everything your life is about, and I worried about that meaning losing yourself.

However, I have found it to be slightly different personally. Yes my entire world revolves around her, and trying to do the best I can for her, but instead of losing my self (Postpartum Depression not withstanding) I feel like it amplifies who I already was. I find myself wanting to be the best version of myself for her sake.

This translates in my Art career into, I want to do the best I can to pursue my dreams to show her that it is never too late, and dreams are never too far out of reach.

This is what I come back to when things get hard, and inspiration feels shaky, I want my daughter to have someone worth looking up to. Even if I fail and it doesn’t work out, at least I will be able to live with the knowledge that I gave it my all.
